Blue Eyed Devils interview 1999

Well well, this interview ain’t exactly up-to-date since I already made it back in 1999 while spending ”state paid holiday” or rather serving time for duties for race and nation. This interview was originally published in Route88 magazine, issue 2. AINASKIN are no strangers to the band, in fact the first interview we made with them was back in 1991 for AinaSkin skinzine when the guys were playing under the name of Nordic Thunder and did not have the late Joe Rowan as a vocalist yet. We also met Blue Eyed Devils for an interview  for Kriegsberichter, when they played in Gothenburg Skin'ead club in Sweden 1997. All questions answered back then and by now is the guitarist Bob.

Jäsä: COULD YOU TELL US HOW THE BAND CAME ABOUT?

Bob: The band was formed a few years ago by Drew, Scott, myself and my brother Ryan. After Nordic Thunder had ended, my brother and I experimented with a couple of different bands, but we didn’t like anything we were doing. Finally, we came upon Drew and Scott, and we found out that we had a new, decent style of music. Scott had also played for Aggravated Assault. We then got Cliff to play bass for us. But Cliff left the band about a year ago, and now we are still having trouble with a bass player!

Jäsä: IF YOUR MUSIC WAS A BUILDING, WHAT WOULD YOU BE?

Bob: Interesting question.I like to think that if our music was a building, it would be the great buildings and architecture of the National Socialist Party and Rally Grounds in Nuremburg, Germany.

Jäsä: YOUR LYRICS CERTAINLY DON’T HOLD ANYTHING BACK. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON OTHER BANDS WHO WATER THEIR MESSAGE TO ”READ-BETWEEN-THE-LINES” OR SOMETIMES EVEN BEYOND THAT?

Bob: Actually, I like bands that have messages which make a person read between the lines and make people think. True, we are up front, and sometimes we don’t hold anything back. But, we also write music that encourages you to think and read between the lines. I think it is important to make our people ”think”, and it is also important to express raw aggression. I think it is a mixture of the two styles that gives us a unique sound.

Jäsä: IF YOU SHOULD INTRODUCE WHITE POWER MUSIC TO SOMEONE, WHICH THREE SONGS WOULD YOU CHOOSE FOR THIS, AND ALSO, WHICH THREE SONGS YOU WOULD NOT CHOOSE FOR THIS?

Bob: Shit, this is a hard question. Basically, you are asking me for my three favourite White Power songs, so here they are:

- My Struggle – Brutal Attack

- Valhalla’s Calling – Bound For Glory

- For Faith And For Folk – Fortress

As for three songs I would not choose they would be anything that preaches drinking and senseless violence. Personally, I don’t think that is something to glorify, especially if it is someone new to the movement.

Jäsä: DO YOU AGREE WITH THE SLOGAN ”MUSIC IS OUR BEST PROPAGANDA” ?

Bob: I think it is an accurate statement now, but really I would have to give a lot of thought to it. Really, I think that movies would be our best propaganda, but we don’t have anyone now to produce them.

Jäsä: ALL BAND MEMBERS HAVE BLUE EYES AS YOUR NAME SAYS. NOW, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF IN THE FUTURE YOU’D RECRUIT A BROWN EYED MUSICIAN ?

Bob: I guess we would have to change our name.

Jäsä: HOW IMPORTANT IS THE CONCEPT OF  ”NON VIOLENCE” TO YOU AND OF  ”PEACEFUL CHANGE” ?

Bob: Well, I have to tell you that I would go with anything that would bring about the change. To me, the survival of our way of life, and the victory of our Race in this struggle is the most important thing to me, NOT how it is achieved.

Jäsä:  COULD YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEWER SONGS?

Bob: Which newer songs? The ones off our last CD Holocaust 2000, or the one we are working on for our next CD? Holocaust 2000 basically has two different lyrical styles: Pro-violence and pro-thought. I tend to write the pro-thought songs (the ones to make you think), and my brother tends to write the pro-violence songs. Their content ranges from anti-government, anti-ZOG to our personal feelings on the struggle and life to general movement related things (traitors, fighting, victory, etc...). As for the songs we are working on now for our next CD, their content includes the normal movement related things (victory, perseverance, fighting...), and also more philosophical things, like the truth and that we fight for it, and how we should live our lives.

Jäsä:  IN USA YOU CAN STILL ENJOY ”FREEDOM OF SPEECH”, BUT HAS THE BAND MET ANY DIRECT ZOG HARRASSMENT?

Bob: Not YET! As of now, things have gone relatively smoothly, except for the police trying to wreck and cancel our shows, (which DOES indeed violate our Right to Assemble). But as far as trouble with our lyrics, we have not had many problems in America.

Jäsä:  HOW IS THE SKINHEAD SCENE IN YOUR AREA? HOW DO YOU VIEW TODAY’S WHITE RACIALIST RESISTANCE MOVEMENT WORLDWIDE?

Bob: The Skinhead scene in our area is not good. Before the death of Joe Rowan, the scene was very good here. There were hundreds of skins, and there was good unity. There were good shows, and we ruled the East Coast. Now, there is only a handful of us left. Many people that we thought were true to the cause have left and turned into shit. Now, there isn’t much unity. Also, we are growing older, and there aren’t many new young skins to take the place of those that have gone astray. As for the White Racialist movement and the skinhead movement in general, I am not happy at all with it. Personally, today I see more skins acting like punk rockers than like true Aryan men and women. It sickens my heart, and discourages me to great extent. I see Hammerskins thinking that they are God’s gift to the green earth, and I see everyone fighting one another, we no true goal in mind. It has become more of an occult than a movement. Truthfully, we need some fresh blood, and we need people that put race and this struggle before their own personal gains and glory. What we are into is not a gang fight. It is a struggle against the corrupt governments of the world that seek to destroy our way of life, and we must do what is the best interest of our cause, not what the ”coolest” thing to do is or what is most acceptable. We must take Responsibility for our actions. I do not see the movement, in general, doing that. There are too many fools in this movement.

Jäsä:  WHAT PLANS ARE LAID UP FOR THE COMING YEAR, AND IN 5 YEARS, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE LIKED TO ACHIEVE ?

Bob: In the coming year, BED will release a 10 song CD of all of our songs that have been on various compilation CDs and 7” records like Yellow Flood, Piece of Shit Cop and What Drives Me. This should be out by the end of spring. Then hopefully, we will release at the end of summer a 12 song CD with all new songs. That CD I am very exicted about. We have many new songs, and they are all good Hate’n’Hard Core music. It will be along the lines of our last CD, Holocaust 2000, with hard, driving, aggressive music and good racialist lyrics. As for the next five years, we hope to play in Europe many more times, and also in America, and we hope to release one or two more CDs. But, I think BED will be no longer by the end of 5 years. All good things must cease, unfortunately.

Jäsä:  WORDS OF WISDOM OR ANY MESSAGES FOR COMRADES IN SCANDINAVIA? CHEERS FOR THE INTERVIEW!

Bob: I really don’t have any more words of wisdom. In fact, I probably have preached too much as it is. All I can say is that we must educate ourselves. A strong body is NOTHING without a strong mind. BED wishes all the best to the Scandinavian Skins and White Racialists, and greetings to the böse muschies, wherever you are. Thanks to Jäsä for the Interview. Keep up the struggle and keep up the good work.
